The Vermouth Mile
The Vermouth Mile is a gastronomic and leisure initiative promoted by the City Council of Lleida, through its tourism department, Lleida Turisme. In this first edition, it forms part of the multidisciplinary programme of the Open from the Historic Center.
This new-format activity aims to become a regular feature in Lleida’s calendar of gastronomic and leisure events, particularly along the axis of Carrer Sant Martí, conceived as a “mile” stretching from the city centre, Prat de la Riba, to the very foot of the Turó de la Seu Vella.
With continuity in mind, the name “The Mile” has been designed to be adaptable to different themed editions: The Mile of...
Overall, this proposal brings together culture and celebration, blending tradition, heritage and the historic centre right in the heart of Lleida, along Carrer Sant Martí.
This year, The Vermouth Mile, will feature a special guest: Garrotín, which will animate vermouth time from three different stages along the street. A total of 16 restaurants located on Carrer Sant Martí are taking part.
The aim is to promote an EXPERIENCE that both celebrates and invites people to rediscover the historic centre of Lleida, where Garrotín was also born, bringing together rhythm, flavours and local identity.
The Vermouth Mile, along a symbolic urban mile (approx. 1.6 km), offers an itinerary that combines various stops where visitors can enjoy vermouth, local tapas, live garrotín performances and ambient music.
This initiative strengthens one of the key axes of the historic centre, encouraging all local venues to take part while reviving the festive and social spirit of vermouth time as an intergenerational meeting point. It also highlights local culture, locally sourced products and public spaces in the city centre under the watchful presence of the Seu Vella of Lleida.
The Vermouth Mile involves 16 venues bars and restaurants on Carrer Sant Martí, which have responded very positively to the initiative.
The Vermouth Mile positions the city, and especially the historic centre of Lleida, as a space for coexistence, oral memory and collective creativity/initiative.
